The Witch of Portabello

The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho is about a lover who tries to understand the life and decisions of his deceased companion. Sherine Khalil or Athena's story is told by those who knew her. An orphaned gypsy adopted by adoring Lebanese parents. Athena sees and struggles with her magical abilities at a young age. Following her passions through life and journeying around Europe and the Middle East. Trying to better understand herself, life, and its truer meanings. Dancing, learning calligraphy, meeting the women who abandoned her, and teaching others are just some of the things she encounters.
Paulo Coelho, most known for his novel the Alchemist writes this wonderful debut. One of a few novels that can make you take a look at something that has always had a misconstrued meaning. This book makes you take a look at yourself to see if you truly understand yourself and the meaning behind it. Anyone on the road to enlightenment would enjoy this astonishing story.
